From Snake to Horse: Shed Your Skin and Gallop Toward Your Purpose in 2026

As the first month of the year comes to a close, we find ourselves standing at a unique and powerful threshold. January, with its flurry of resolutions and fresh starts, is behind us. Now, as we step into February, we are given a moment to pause, breathe, and ask ourselves a crucial question: Is the path we’ve set for this year truly our own?

This year is special. We are not just moving from one month to the next, but from one profound energetic cycle to another. We are concluding the introspective Year of the Wood Snake and preparing to gallop into the dynamic and powerful Year of the Fire Horse on February 17th. This transition offers us a beautiful framework for setting a vision that is not only inspiring but deeply aligned with our soul’s purpose.

The Wisdom of the Snake: Shedding What No Longer Serves You

The Year of the Snake, which has guided us through 2025, was a time for deep inner work. Like the snake that sheds its skin to grow, this was a period of transformation, renewal, and quiet wisdom. It invited us to look inward, to confront the shadows and old paradigms that have held us back.

So often, we carry beliefs that are not our own. We chase dreams that belong to the crowd, we follow paths laid out for us by others, and we wonder why we feel unfulfilled. The Snake year was our chance to identify these borrowed skins. Before we can move forward, we must first let go.

Take a moment to reflect on this past year. What have you learned about yourself? What old stories, fears, or limitations are you ready to shed? This is the sacred work of the Snake—to release the weight of the past so we can step into the future with lightness and clarity.

The Power of the Horse: Galloping Toward Your Vision

As we prepare for the Year of the Fire Horse, we are met with a surge of vibrant, forward-moving energy. The Horse symbolizes action, freedom, courage, and breakthrough. Where the Snake encouraged introspection, the Horse demands expression. It is a time for bold movement, for taking the wisdom we’ve gathered and putting it into decisive, heart-led action.

This is the year to move forward with empowerment, direction, and prosperity in whichever aspect of your life you wish to focus on. But to harness the Horse’s powerful momentum, our direction must be clear. And that clarity comes from one place: our purpose.

The Crucial Role of Purpose: Your Inner Compass

I am a big believer that finding and connecting with our purpose is the most essential ingredient for a happy and fulfilling life. It is our inner compass, the true north that guides every decision we make.

So many of our resolutions fail because they are not aligned with this inner compass. We set goals based on what we think we should want, rather than what our soul truly craves. We chase the crowd’s dreams of success, and in doing so, we abandon our own.

A purpose-aligned vision, however, is different. It is magnetic. It pulls us forward. It makes challenges feel like opportunities and effort feel like devotion. When your vision is an extension of your purpose, you are no longer just setting a goal; you are answering a calling.

A Guide to Creating Your Purpose-Aligned Vision Board

A vision board is a beautiful and powerful tool to bring your purpose to life. It is a visual representation of your soul’s desires. Here is a guide to creating one that is deeply aligned with your true north.

Step 1: Connect with Your Purpose

Before you cut a single image, sit quietly with yourself. Put a hand on your heart, breathe deeply, and ask yourself these questions. Let the answers flow without judgment.

•When do I feel most alive and energized?

•What unique gift do I bring to the world?

•If I could not fail, what would I do?

•What kind of life would make me feel most like my authentic self?

Step 2: Envision Your Year

With your purpose as your guide, begin to dream about the year ahead. How does your purpose want to express itself in your career, your relationships, your health, and your spiritual life? Write down words, feelings, and ideas that come to mind. Focus on the feeling you want to cultivate—joy, peace, strength, connection—not just the material outcomes.

Step 3: Gather Your Images

Now, the fun part. Look through magazines, online platforms like Pinterest, or even your own photos. Find images, words, and colors that resonate with the feelings you just identified. Don’t overthink it. If an image speaks to you, trust that it holds a piece of your vision.

Step 4: Create Your Sacred Board

Arrange your chosen images and words on a corkboard, poster board, or even in a digital format. There is no right or wrong way to do this. Let your intuition guide the layout. As you place each element, consciously affirm that you are open to receiving this vision or something even better.

Step 5: Activate Your Vision

Place your vision board somewhere you will see it every day—by your bed, in your office, or as your computer’s desktop. Spend a few moments with it each morning, allowing yourself to feel the emotions of your vision already realized. This is not about striving; it is about aligning your energy with the reality you wish to create.

As we stand on the cusp of the Year of the Horse, let us honor the wisdom we’ve gained from the Snake. Let us shed the skins of who we were, so we can gallop freely and powerfully in the direction of who we are meant to be.

This is your year to move with purpose, to live with intention, and to create a life that is not just lived, but deeply felt.

With love and light,

Dr. Ana V.
